From Striving to Thriving How to Grow Confident Capable Readers Stephanie Harvey Annie Ward Books

Inspiration bound in love, this book needs to be in the hands of every teacher! Almost thirty years in the education field, I have had countless waves of literacy initiatives, but deep within my soul, I knew you just needed to find ways to encourage and nurture authentic reading. Creating thriving readers means carefully carving out silent reading time that is supported with purposeful conferring. It means allowing children to choose what they read and saving intensive interventions for the 5% or so that truly need it. Most kids just need time to read what they love and find compelling. The book is part theory backed by research, part practical tips for building a literacy-rich environment, and part lessons that are created to support the authors' beliefs.

From Striving to Thriving How to Grow Confident Capable Readers Stephanie Harvey Annie Ward Books Reviews

This is the best, most engaging, and most useful professional text I have ever encountered. I ran around my building recommending it to every teacher I came into contact with! My team is using From Striving to Thriving for a summer book club because it is just that awesome.
Wonderful resource!!
Reading this tells me I’m on the right path and I now have some awesome new ideas too. A must read for those who have readers that are (struggling) I mean striving
Perfect, just what I asked for.
Fast shipping, item as described. Good read with good ideas. I have a reading background so there wasn't a lot of new information but still a good read none the less.
Steph Harvey never disappoints. This book reinforces what we know to be true - the best intervention is a book! What I love most is that the concepts and practices discussed in the book are easily implemented in the classroom or at home.
When this book came out i looked at it and thought "I'm not reading a school book during the summer!" Then someone did a book study so I decided I would. Boy am I glad I did!! It is packed with a ton of great information with an easy to follow lay out. I'm only in chapter 3 (life did get in the way of my reading some) but now that school is starting back I already have several ideas I want to incorporate in my classroom. There are great quotes throughout the book and lessons at the end. A great resource for reading teachers.
